Merlyn C. Pontikes Memorial/Triton College Foundation - Application Opens April 15th for Fall

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: Amount varies, covers in-district tuition only.

BACKGROUND: Triton Alumna Merlyn C. Pontikes died in 2004. Her wish was to create a scholarship that would assist seniors who, like her, were enthusiastic about higher education. She especially wanted to help those senior learners who might not otherwise be financially able to enroll in classes. Merlyn was a very active senior – she taught E.S.L. classes and enrolled in numerous classes at Triton College. Pontikes’ daughter, Evelyn Burdick – a former employee at Triton – established this award in her mother’s memory.

REQUIREMENTS:
• 60 years of age or older
• Full-time or part-time student
• Must be a grandmother and reside in Triton’s District
• Must be taking continuing education classes through the RSVP-Senior Studies area
• This award is renewable for a second semester

This scholarship will begin accepting applications on April 15th. Please mark your calendars to apply during the specified application period.
