Triton College COVID-19 Student Emergency Grant

The Triton College COVID-19 Student Emergency Grant was created to assist students experiencing financial hardship due to the Coronavirus pandemic that could adversely affect their educational success. Expenses that will be considered include food, housing, course materials, technology, emergency health care, child care, and other expenses associated with the disruption of campus operations. Funding for this scholarship was provided through passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act and the Triton College Foundation. Grant dollars obtained through the CARES Act are intended for students who would have taken face-to-face classes but must adjust to remote learning because of the pandemic.

Eligibility requirements for funds provided by the CARES Act:

1. Currently enrolled in a minimum of three credit hours at Triton College (includes spring, summer, and fall 2020)
2. Have a verified FAFSA on file for either the 2019-20 or 2020-21 academic years
3. Meet the Financial Aid Standards of Academic Progress
4. Must be enrolled in a degree or certificate program

Students not meeting the above requirements may still apply and be considered for Triton College Foundation funds. Completing the FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov and the financial aid process will maximize the opportunity for a scholarship award.

The COVID-19 Student Emergency Grant Application will be open until December 1, 2020. Applications will be reviewed within three weeks of the submission date and students will be notified of the outcome through their Triton email account. Grants awarded through this application will be posted as a Financial Aid Award and a check will be processed and mailed to the home address on the student’s record. Awards are not guaranteed and requested amounts may be adjusted based on limited funding. COVID-19 Student Emergency Grants do not need to be repaid.
